Around the Cottage.

Confolon Bridge

The hamlet of Le Breuil is in the commune of Alloue in the Department of the Charente and its nearest big town is Confolens. Le Breuil is a quiet backwater some 200 metres from the River Charente at the end of a "cul-de-sac" road so its ideal for small children playing safely.
The countryside around the cottage is an ideal base for bicycling or walking, picnics or even sitting watching the birds on the river. There is very little traffic and even in high summer its a tranquil spot.
Visitors to Le Breuil soon forget the pressures of life and quickly relax into their holiday. The biggest pressure is deciding when to fetch the fresh croissants!

The village of Alloue which is a couple of kilometres away, has good facilities, including a Bar/Tabac, its own Boulangerie, a small "Ecomarche", with a good variety of products and a Hairdressing Salon — for that special night out! . A little further afield is Champagne Mouton with small shops and for larger supermarkets a 20km trip to Confolens is required.

The whole area is a network of quiet roads linking hamlets and small villages with a strong agricultural tradition in an area between the Vienne and Charente rivers.
