The picturesque Medieval town of Confolens is approximately 14km South-South East from Alloue and is situated on the River Vienne. Confolens is renouned for its world famous Folk Festival in August attracting visitors and performers from all over the world and has a Saturday market, good shops and restaurants.
Alloue lies equidistant, and about an hour's drive, between the cities of Angouleme, Limoges and Poitiers which is near to Futuroscope. All three cities are abounding in attractive architecture, shops, restaurants and bars, with good nightlife on offer.

Alloue Map

Futuroscope is certainly worth a visit as its a typically modern French theme park showcasing the "New France" of technological invention and innovation in many hectares of things to see and do. Its just North of Poitiers off the N10 road and is also accessible by rail from Ruffec station. This link takes you to the Futuroscope website with details of whats on show, plans and admission charges.

Further afield the town of Cognac is 80km west towards the coast. The world famous distilleries here are well worth a visit (and there are many guided tours), as is the Atlantic Coast with the Cote Sauvage and resort of Royan, a further 80km west and the famous port of La Rochelle to the North.

There's lots to see and do in the area and in high summer there are numerous fetes and festivals that are the real heart of France.
